Wilson tennis : The brand's universe
Established in 1914, Wilson only definitively adopted its current name in 1957 after several changes. In its early days, Ashland Manufacturing Company, which later became Wilson Sporting Goods Co., was a subsidiary of a meat selling company. The company then started manufacturing surgical sutures and tennis strings made of the leftover animal by-products. That same year, the first racquets and baseball equipments were made. In the 1930s, the Autograph racquets were first used by players like Ellsworth Vines and French Suzanne Lenglen. The American company’s expertise continues to grow and gain public recognition collaborating with the best players of each decade: Jack Kraemer, Billie Jean King, Stan Smith, Jimmy Connors.
This collaboration with major players continues today with Roger Federer, Grigor Dimitrov, Serena Williams and many others. Wilson racquet collections have not stop growing and you can purchase the Pro Staff, Blade, Burn or Ultra.
Balls, accessories, clothes and shoes helped the Chicago company to evolve.
